Amanda of AusNTM on BCBG Max Azria SS 2012

From kawadjan, 4 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

I was looking at the first batch of collections in New York Fashion Week, and as always BCBG Max Azria is always one of the first labels to show its collection. I read on Altamira that for models the BCBG Max Azria runway is a good indicator of their success for the entire season. But today when I looked at the photos of its collection (also see the video here), I was more entranced by the amazing dresses than the models themselves. Suddenly I spotted a familiar face, that of Amanda Ware,... Basahin pa

Asian Beauties for Miss Universe 2011

From kawadjan, 5 months ago, Read 2 times. Katulad na Artikulo

This is it. I don't think any introduction is needed because any self-respecting gay man would know it's that time of the year again when our adrenalin levels are off the roof leading to the coronation night of the Miss Universe. As usual, I will limit my bitching to the girls of Asia. I simply don't have time to do the African, European, and especially the Latina beauties. I don't have any solid basis for my opinions except for their official photos and short interviews (posted on Youtube).... Basahin pa

Shelf Life: "Room" by Emma Donoghue

From kawadjan, 5 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

I read "Room" (2010) by Emma Donoghue on the plane ride from Bangkok to Manila and I wished that flight was long enough for me to finish the book in one sitting. Right on its first few pages, "Room" has definitely the power to grab you into the world of its 5-year old narrator, Jack, whose life is contained in a tiny room he shares with his mom. Jack's naivety in the midst of horror is at once heart-warming and tragic at the same time. The Washington Post calls it "one of the most affecting and... Basahin pa

Rediscovery

I was in Manila last week for an official meeting held at the National Museum. Well, it was not a bad idea to be holed up in the museum for a few days, and the farewell dinner was in fact held at a grand marble hall where they also served amazing Pinoy food. During my stay in Manila we also visited the San Augustin Museum and the Bahay ng Tsinoy museum. I managed to sneak to Greenbelt to meet friends. They are pretty much strangers to each other but I had no choice but to meet them in one go... Basahin pa

A Golden Experience

From kawadjan, 6 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

My last post on Myanmar....A trip to Yangon is not complete without seeing Myanmar's chief landmark, the Shwedagon Pagoda. To prepare for the visit, Lara Stone and I wore longyi, the tube garment practically worn by everyone in Myanmar. Finally I had a good reason to wear a skirt! The pagoda was walking distance from our guest house, we even had a view of it from our bedroom window. Because it was a Sunday, many people were heading there as well. Using the east entrance, the road leading to it... Basahin pa

Architecture Porn in Yangon

From kawadjan, 6 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived in Yangon, and dark, heavy clouds cast a gray pallor to the city. From the cab, though, I had a quick glimpse of numerous old buildings in the downtown area. I was also surprised by the many trees lining the city's avenues. I knew right then I was in for a treat.Lara Stone and I ventured into the streets near our guest house in the evening of our arrival, but I could only see faint traces of the grand buildings wrapped in darkness (Yangon hardly has... The Shores of Ngwe Saung

From kawadjan, 6 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

I just came back from a nine-day holiday in Myanmar with Lara Stone. I spent 4 1/2 days in Yangon and 4 1/2 days in Ngwe Saung. I have a lot of things to say about Yangon so let's set that aside for the moment, shall we'For now I'd tell you about Ngwe Saung, a beach town east of Yangon. The five-hour trip took us through the Ayeyarwady Delta. The scene along the way was of endless plains of rice fields and the occasional village made of thatch houses. The delta was devastated by Cyclone Nargis... Basahin pa

Lara Stone Returns

From kawadjan, 7 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

I did not know that I'm in fact fiercely territorial until Lara Stone started camping in my place for two weeks now. I would not necessarily call it "living together", after all he's only staying here for a month, but it's certainly a new "arrangement", for lack of a better term, for me. Well of course I'm thrilled he's back and we have lots of time to spend with each other. Reading the Sunday papers while having breakfast in bed; going for a swim every afternoon; endless talks... you know... Basahin pa

Prevail

From kawadjan, 8 months ago, Read 0 times. Katulad na Artikulo

I remember those days when there was once a very active blogging "community". It should've been about four years ago when I felt that I could hardly catch up on reading the blogs I regularly follow. It was exciting to read people who shared my interests on a host of things and I also admired how well they articulate their thoughts. I made friends with a good number of Pinoy bloggers and God knows where that has brought me.I cleaned up my blog roll yesterday and it was sad that many of the... Basahin pa
